My Portfolio
Magazines
When I worked as a full-time journalist from 1998-2009, it was the Sunday /weekend supplements that I mostly worked for. In fact, I remember being coaxed into joining as a field reporter “because that’s what all journalists need to do at least once in their careers.” I wouldn’t lie, I enjoyed the rush and thrill of breaking stories, rushing to a site of action but I veered back to the weekend supplements because the writer in me somehow felt more satiated. At The Financial Express, our Weekend paper was a treat to work on, besides our weekly features. In fact, I was a part of Brunch at Hindustan Times, first in Delhi and then in Mumbai, an assignment I thoroughly enjoyed. I also led Maild Todays’ Sunday magazine section for a while.
When I began working independently in 2009 — balancing my evolving role as a mother with a growing editorial career — I had the opportunity to conceptualise and lead several magazines and supplements across sectors.
- Salute – The defence magazine founded by Maroof Raza. I served as Consulting Assistant Editor for over three years, overseeing design, editing, contributor management, and writing features alongside Retd. Air Cmdr. Prashant Dixit.
- Spend – A luxury lifestyle supplement for Business Standard, which I led for two years. I was responsible for complete content strategy, commissioning, editing, planning, and design oversight.
- Economic & Political Journal of Sikkim – As Consulting Editor, I helmed the journal end-to-end, shaping its editorial direction and execution.
- Democratic World – A monthly magazine by the MBD Group, where I worked as Associate Editor for three years. My role included overall planning, commissioning stories, overseeing editing and design, and conceptualising special cover editions.
- Fastrack – A quarterly magazine by logistics major Safexpress. Since June 2023, I have served as Editor, leading ideation, story development, production, and design supervision.
